There are tens of thousands of items sold online. While some are obviously good ideas that can save you money others are not in anyway practical for Internet sales. Why is this? What makes a product a great idea to sell online?
There are two primary factors when considering a product’s Internet viability. The first is weight and ease of shipping. While many people have attempted to sell and ship priceless antiques on the Internet the huge percentage of goods damaged in shipping makes antiques on the net a bad idea. Another shipping problem can be weight. Obviously items like bricks and lumber are far too heavy and large for Internet sales. So size and weight must be considered. The second factor when considering a product for Internet sales is availability. If an item can be purchased at any store in the world and is inexpensive it is a poor choice for online marketing. No one buys Ivory soap online.
Still some items require a quality assortment in order to purchase and may not be available locally. Or the local options may be overpriced and of poor quality. An example of this is trophies. Trophy quality varies greatly from seller to seller and of course most small towns do not have a trophy building shop offering sports trophies as well as engraved plaques.
